2 Chronicles 7:11-22



Trust and obey, there is no other way. God requires us to sacrifice our own selfish wants and desires to become available to increase our faith and be used by Him.

Anything that comes between us and God is an idol. The word worship literally means weight in Greek. This means whatever in our lives we give weight to, we worship. People worship many things: success, possessions, family, children. Some of these things are not evil, but can be when we desire them above God in our lives.

Let nothing keep you from your search for God. May you find the strength to cast off any idol you may be worshiping and focus solely on doing the work the Lord has set for you to do.

Idea: On a piece of paper, write down the distractions & idols that keep you from setting your eyes on Jesus. Take that paper and rip it up and throw it away. Cast away those idols. May this be a symbol of turning away from your wicked ways and returning to your first love, Jesus. 

In light of the things of this world that I’ve elevated in importance and have far too often put my hope and trust in, I cry out to you, my Savior and Lord, to graciously forgive my foolish rebellion against your good and loving rule. I turn my back on the worldly things and Seek you alone. Come, Lord, and return to your rightful place and refresh my heart with your peace and love. Amen.
