Remember until he comes
V.26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Gather communion supplies to celebrate the Lord’s Table.
Just as the Israelites celebrated the Passover, we celebrate the Lord’s Table. We celebrate to remember that Jesus has delivered us from the slavery of sin. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper to remind ourselves and also to proclaim. Every time we slow down to eat the bread and drink the cup, we proclaim to ourselves our need for a savior. When it comes to sin we cannot pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. We take part in Communion to proclaim to the watching world that a Savior has come for them. He conquered sin not with Pharaoh's army, but by submitting to Father’s love.
It is a sacred meal of remembrance and renewal. In a world of high speed everything, come to table to renew your heart, renew your love for him. Ask him to cleanse you of Egypt. Reconcile where there may be division and live as the family of God that he died to create.
PRAYER
Lord, we come to your table and we thank you that you are the bread of life. We thank you for the new covenant. Cleanse us and renew us today. Empower us to love one another and live as your family. Amen
