Remember who God is and respond with praise
Psalm 145 begins with a decision:
“I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you
every day; yes, I will praise you forever.”
—Psalm 145:1–2 NLT
David’s praise flows from who he knows God to be.
The Lord is great, gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love. He is faithful and
near to all who call on Him. He lifts the fallen, provides for creation, and rescues those who love
Him.
Psalm 145 calls us to remember not only what God has done, but who He is. Circumstances and
generations change, but God’s character does not. He remains faithful in every generation.
“Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.”

The knowledge of God and love for Him are meant to pass from one generation to the next.
Testimonies from those before us encourage our faith, but God invites us to know His goodness
for ourselves. Our families and those younger in faith need to hear how we have encountered
God—and experience the love and presence of Jesus flowing through our lives.

- What do you want to carry forward—and what might God want to heal or redeem?
- Which truth in this psalm does your family or someone younger in faith need to hear?
Ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your desire to praise God and give you courage to share His
goodness. Your testimony can become part of the spiritual inheritance you pass on.
PRAYER
God, my King, You are worthy of all praise! Help me know You more and open my eyes to see more of Your unchanging nature. Awaken greater praise in me, draw me deeper into worship, and give me a heart like David’s, delighting to exalt You every day. May my life and family proclaim Your goodness! Empower me to tell the next generation what You have done, so they will love You and carry Your testimony to those who follow. Amen.
