"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common." - Acts 2:42-44 (ESV)

The early church didn't just happen; it was built on devotion. They committed themselves to core practices: learning God's word, sharing life (fellowship), eating together, and praying. This wasn't a casual acquaintance; it was an intentional, all-in community. They shared their resources, their homes, and their hearts. This kind of deep connection requires honesty and humility. This model challenges us to ask: Are we merely attending church, or are we actively devoting ourselves to the people who are the Church? True spiritual family begins with a shared commitment to pursuing Jesus together, in tangible, everyday ways.

Father, thank You for the model of the first church. Forgive me for the times I have treated fellowship as an option rather than a necessity. Instill in me a deep devotion to my brothers and sisters. Show me how to be a more active and committed member of Your family. Amen.
