Relying on God’s Word is a foundation of Christianity. We believe that the Bible was written by real people in history who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what they wrote. We believe the Bible is the primary way that God has revealed Himself to us and all that it affirms is true. The Bible is God’s true Word and thereby is an essential resource in understanding God.

Psalm 119:160 - The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.

Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

But we can’t just read and know God’s Word we must also rely on it. Relying on the truth of the Bible means we believe and live in accordance with what it says. If the Bible says God is love, we believe it is true no matter what it may seem like in the moment. If the Bible says we must forgive those who offend us, we choose to forgive even when we don’t feel like it and when it seems unfair. Relying on God’s Word is about trusting that what He clearly communicates to us is true and is meant to be believed and lived out.

Father, help me to know, trust and live in accordance with Your clearly communicated truth. Motivate me to spend more time in the Bible so I can read the truths You reveal within it. But help me to not just read it and know it, help me to live it. Reveal the areas of my life that are not aligned with Your truths and give me the courage and strength to change those areas. Thank You that Your Word is useful for correction and training. Use it in such ways in my heart and in my life. Amen
